Ky Hoa Dental

Who we are

Ky Hoa Dental is the Odonto-Stomatology department of Ky Hoa Medical Center, a general clinic at 266A - 268, Duong 3 Thang 2, Hoa Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Each month close to 600 dental visits take place here, mostly by people living around Duong 3 Thang 2, Su Van Hanh and To Hien Thanh streets.

We are not a cosmetic dental studio. The daily work here is ordinary and practical: treating decay for a schoolchild, scaling for an older patient whose gums bleed, removing an impacted wisdom tooth for an office worker, restoring chewing function for someone who lost teeth years ago.

Three things we do differently

1. You can still use your health insurance card for dental care

This is what surprises people most. To sign a health insurance (BHYT) service contract, a facility must meet the conditions for medical examination and treatment, hold an operating licence, and be able to supply the medicines and materials appropriate to its scope of practice - the application is appraised by the social insurance agency before any contract is signed. Ky Hoa Medical Center has met those conditions and has signed that contract, so treatment of dental conditions - decay, pulpitis, gingivitis, extraction of diseased teeth - is covered under the regulations.

2. Costs are explained before we start

For many people the biggest worry about dental treatment is not the procedure itself but not knowing what the final bill will be. At Ky Hoa the sequence is always the same: the dentist examines you and takes an X-ray if needed, explains what is going on, sets out what needs to be done, which items health insurance covers, which items you pay for and roughly how much - and only starts once you agree.

3. The dental clinic sits inside a general medical centre

This matters more than people expect, particularly for older patients. Someone with high blood pressure or diabetes who needs a tooth removed often has to travel between two places: an internal medicine check in one clinic and dental treatment in another. At Ky Hoa, blood pressure checks, blood tests and review with an internal medicine doctor all happen in the same centre, before the dentist carries out the procedure.

Who we care for

  • Families living in the surrounding area - who want dental care close to home, easy to get to, and covered by insurance.
  • Older patients and people with underlying conditions - who need a general health check before any dental procedure.
  • People who work or study - the clinic is open on Saturdays, so there is no need to take time off midweek.
  • Parents of young children - who want a patient dentist and practical advice on preventing decay early.

How we work

  1. A thorough examination before any conclusion. The dentist checks all your teeth, gums and bite, and takes an X-ray when needed - no diagnosis at a glance.
  2. Keeping natural teeth wherever possible. If a tooth can still be saved with a filling or root canal treatment, that is the option we look at first, rather than extraction and a replacement.
  3. Plain language. You need to understand what is happening and why a treatment is needed before you agree to it.
  4. No unnecessary add-ons. The dentist will tell you what needs doing now, what can wait, and what is purely a cosmetic choice.
