Second, among the facilities that do hold a health insurance contract, not all of them roster a dentist on Saturday. Dentistry needs enough chairs, enough sterilised instruments and enough support staff, so opening an extra weekend day means arranging a whole team rather than simply unlocking the door.

So when you are looking for a Saturday health insurance dental visit, ask two things clearly: does the facility accept health insurance cards, and is there a dentist working on Saturday. One phone call beforehand saves a wasted journey.

Saturday health insurance dental visits at Ky Hoa Dental

Ky Hoa Dental is the dental specialty department of Ky Hoa Medical Center, a general clinic that holds a health insurance examination and treatment contract. Because of that, you can use your health insurance card here for the examination and treatment of dental disease.

As for opening hours, the centre is open Monday - Saturday, 06:30 - 17:00 and closed on Sunday. That means Saturdays run as normal and your health insurance card works just as it does on a weekday. 3. Hear the advice and the cost - the dentist explains your situation, the approach, what falls within health insurance cover and what is self-pay, all before starting.
4. Treatment and payment - once the work is done, you settle the portion outside your insurance entitlement at reception.

The benefit level depends on the category recorded on each person's card and may be 80%, 95% or 100% of the cost within the entitled scope, in accordance with the Law on Health Insurance. What dental work can be done on a Saturday?

The principle behind health insurance is consistent and does not depend on the day of the week: the card covers treatment for disease and does not cover cosmetic wishes.

The treatments for disease that people most often need at the weekend are:

• Examination and treatment of decay, pulp inflammation, gingivitis and periodontitis.
• Fillings for decayed teeth caused by disease.
• Root canal treatment where indicated.
• Extraction for disease - a badly broken decayed tooth, a failed root, a tooth that is very loose.
• Scaling where treatment is indicated for gingivitis or periodontitis.

Which time of day involves the least waiting?

In our experience Saturdays are busier than weekdays, because everyone saves things up for the weekend. A few suggestions to keep your wait short:

• Come early in the morning. The centre opens at 06:30, and the first slots of the day are usually quieter.
• Call and book ahead. Our staff will check the schedule, suggest a quieter time and remind you what to bring.
• Say in advance if you need a procedure. Extractions and root canal treatment take longer than a routine examination, so telling us beforehand lets the centre allocate a chair accordingly.
• Say in advance if you live with an underlying condition. That allows us to arrange for the dentist to hold a joint consultation with an internal medicine doctor during the same visit.

What should you prepare before a Saturday visit?

The list is short. Put it together the night before:

• A valid health insurance card - the paper card, the card on the VssID app, or a level 2 VNeID identity account all work.
• Photo identification such as your citizen identity card, to confirm the card belongs to you.
• Prescriptions or your old medical record book if you are being treated for an underlying condition, particularly anticoagulant, diabetes or blood pressure medication.
• Eat something light before you come rather than arriving on an empty stomach, in case a longer procedure is needed.
